About Me

I am a Postpartum Doula and NCS (Newborn Care Specialist) in San Diego ca. I’ve cared for families all over the San Diego area for more than 20 years. Many of the families I worked with were on a long-term basis but I always enjoyed it when a new baby was welcomed into the family. This is why I’ve shifted my focus and narrowed my specialty to newborns and postpartum families. I knew there was so much more I could do to support the needs of a growing family holistically by caring for the baby and the postpartum mom through the tender early weeks after birth. Since receiving my postpartum doula and newborn care specialist training, I know in my heart that postpartum doula support is where I’m meant to be!

I have a wealth of experience ranging from supporting twins, triplets, infants with medical needs, older siblings, and helping new parents recover from both vaginal and cesarean birth. I specialize in overnight postpartum doula services. I’m honored to support families during the night to help them get the most sleep possible allowing recovery after birth while attentively caring for their newborn.

I completed my training with Newborn Care Solutions as a newborn care specialist and CAPPA as a postpartum doula. I’m fluent in Spanish and will be completing my training in lactation support in March 2023. I’m up to date will all vaccines and I’m current with my Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification.

If you are a family expecting your first baby or a family welcoming another baby into your family, I’d love to help you get the support and sleep you need in those early weeks!

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A Doula is a trained professional that offers physical, emotional, and information support to a new mother or primary parent and the rest of the family. The goal is to make the transition easier for new parents and assist mom during her recovery period.

Support is a key factor in any doula’s role and focuses on physical, emotional, and nurturing practices. Easing parents into their new role is a critical mission for doulas. This may include newborn care from time to time but it’s about helping parents grow in knowledge and confidence.

Doulas do not offer any medical advice or perform any medical or clinical procedures. Instead, they offer parents referrals to appropriate studies and published books as well as the professionals who can provide that type of care.

Often first-time parents hire a doula because they need help and instruction on feeding, bathing, dressing, diapering, swaddling, and sleep routines for their newborn. Even when parents welcome their second or third baby they may need support. Doulas can step in because they have training and experience and set healthy boundaries so parents flourish.

Benefits of a Post Partum Doula

Postpartum doulas are experts in emotional support, active listening, and encouraging new moms and dads to follow their own hearts.

Education & Training

Postpartum doulas provide evidence-based information to help new mothers understand newborn behavior and provide training in soothing techniques, breastfeeding, and bottle-feeding support.

Improved Rest

Rest assured and sleep well knowing someone is there to help you care for your newborn overnight.

Practical Support

Postpartum doulas can help the nights and days go by more smoothly by helping with the baby’s laundry, doing small household tasks, or preparing simple, nourishing meals.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Beatriz is amazing! Hire her now! My twins were just out of the NICU and she just excelled beyond expectations.

Marcos A

I was very nervous and hesitant to hire someone we didn’t know. Beatriz has been so amazing. She keeps detailed notes and comes up with suggestions based on her experience. She is very competent and confident which is extremely important with babies! I would highly recommend her.

Shinobu H

Words can’t explain how Beatriz loved and took care of our triplets. Both my wife and I slept like babies, knowing our babies were in the best hands. She is just an amazing person and goes above and beyond.

Alex B

Betty came 3 – 4 nights a week for over a month. As new parents, we were still finding a routine with our son and she adjusted with us and gave great advice. I feel like she truly cared for and loved my son. She was so gentle with him and able to keep him asleep until his next feed. She’s also a great cook!

Kelly C

Betty worked with our family 4 days a week on day shifts helping with our newborn daughter. She always took so much care of her, making sure she was happy and comfortable. Our daughter always smiled so much every time she arrived and we knew she was in good hands. When she was sleeping, she always found ways to help out, whether washing bottles, folding baby laundry, or cooking for the family. We would highly recommend her to any family!

Renee H

Betty watched our Newborn Twins overnight and was absolutely fantastic. She is warm, attentive and went above and beyond our expectations. We highly recommend Betty and credit her for helping us get through the newborn phase successfully.
